How US President Jimmy Carter's Joke Caused Exagerated Laugh In Japan Audience?

Once, during his speech in front of Japan audience US president Jimmy Carter began his speech with joke. When everybody began laughing so loud, impressed Carter asked translator how could he pass the sense joke so well? In turn translator admitted that he translated the joke in that way: “President told a funny story. Everybody must laugh.”
